The Federal Government has sent a high power delegation to commiserate with the parents and people of Zamfara State, over the abduction of schoolgirls in Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation and Honourable Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, said they were in the state to commiserate and sympathize with the people of Zamfara to tell the people of the state the Buhari’s government is determined to ensure the protection of lives and properties of the citizenry in the country.
He said government would ensure the safe return of the abducted girls and called on the parents of the abducted girls to be patient promising that the government will stop at nothing in ensuring the safe release of the girls their return to reunion with their families, urging them to take the experience they have had as an act of God.
Receiving the delegation, Governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle said the state and Federal Government were everything possible to rescue the girls.
He appealed to Abuja to deploy more security personnel to Zamfara State because, according the governor, the ones presently on ground are inadequate to cover all the areas affected.
Governor Mutawalle thanked Federal Government for the visit and said his state government was doing everything possible to rescue the girls safely.
Along with the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, other members of the Federal Government delegation included the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, the Minster for Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen, and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Faruq.
The DEFENDER reports that the Humanitarian Minister, Sadiya Faruq, who hails from Zamfara State, had in a swift reaction to the abduction on Friday 26 February 2021 said via her official Facebook social media handle that:
“I spent the better part of today praying and hoping that there will be a counter-narrative regarding the deeply upsetting news from my home state of Zamfara
“The reported mass abduction of over 300 students from their hostels at Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata Marafa Local Government Area is sad and must be condemned especially with the Kagara boys still in captivity.
“The continuing attack on schools and students is a slap on the face of education and progress because education is critical to making a better and progressive society.
“I was delighted to receive news that some of the abducted students may have escaped to freedom and look forward to confirmation of such pleasant news.
“Our prayers are with the family, friends, and school authorities of the missing girls and boys as we put our trust in the gallant officers to help find and bring the girls home safely. Our hope is strong and unrelenting,” the Minister said.
