The Edo State politics of 2020 is taking a new dimension as Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) veers into applying religion balancing in the game.

It was gathered on Sunday that the APC torchbearer for September election in Edo State picked a Muslim as his deputy governorship candidate.

The newly chosen running mate, Hon. Gani Audu, according to information reaching The DEFENDER, comes from Ward 7 in Etsako West Local Government Area, which is grassroots community of former national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Audu, a former two-term chairman and caretaker chairman of his local government, was Director General in charge of Government to Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole during his tenure as governor of Edo State.

Till date he has been elected member of the state House of Assembly two times.

Our source, however, was unable to tell how the dimension of Christian-Muslim ticket will change the existing game as “Obasekism”, according him, has a way it has become an ideology in the state especially, considering the events that led to Godwin Obaseki moving out of APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to actualize his dream of re-election.

Details later….
