IRGC claims arrest of suspected Mossad secret agent, allegedly recovers US currency
Iran’s security agencies have continued to focus heavily on suspected Israeli intelligence networks, particularly following the escalation of direct confrontation between Iran, Israel and the United States.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly arrested an individual accused of working as an agent for Israel’s Mossad intelligence service, amid heightened security operations against suspected foreign espionage networks inside the country.
Reports circulating online claim that U.S. currency was recovered from the suspect following his arrest. However, the specific details concerning the amount of money allegedly seized, the identity of the suspect and the circumstances of the arrest have not yet been independently verified by major international news organisations.
Iranian authorities have previously announced several arrests involving people they accused of cooperating with Mossad. Tehran has alleged that some suspects were involved in gathering sensitive intelligence, photographing military installations, transmitting coordinates and supporting sabotage operations.
In August 2025, the IRGC announced the arrest of eight people suspected of links to Mossad. Iranian authorities alleged that the suspects had attempted to transmit information about sensitive locations and senior military figures to Israel. Reuters reported the arrests while making clear that the allegations came from Iranian authorities.

The reported recovery of U.S. currency, if officially confirmed, could be presented by Iranian authorities as evidence of foreign financial support for espionage activities. However, possession of U.S. dollars alone does not establish that an individual was working for Mossad, and no independent evidence presently available establishes that the alleged currency was payment for espionage.
