“People are dying not of sickness but of starvation. If you’re not ready to confront them, I’m looking for those who will work with me to confront them.”

Former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation during Buhari Administration, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has told Nigerians of South South extractions to get ready for the business of removing Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the ballots as their President in 2027.

Warning that Nigerians are already dying of hunger under President Tinubu’s administration and that a second term for him could bring even worse suffering to the people, Amaechi, the Dan Amana of Daura Emirate, told them that “If you are not hungry, I am hungry” and that the best way out is to remove him democratically, saying it is doable.

He spoke at the inauguration of opposition coalition’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday July 24, 2025.

Now in the coalition movement, Amaechi recently joined the ADC to challenge President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections on which ground he raised concerns Wednesday over electoral malpractice especially as done in Rivers during elections.

Amaechi accused his home state of having a reputation for election rigging and stressed the need to end such anti-democratic and anti-people practices ahead of general elections in 2027.

He told his audience that, “We are told by the coalition that there will be conferences that will elect new officers in due course. The national party will decide when that will take place.

“Most importantly is to have your eyes on 2027, to have your eyes on 2027. Please go home and start registration. We will work with the executive. We will form a committee local government by local government that will go from ward to ward to ascertain the number of people we have.

“They make noise after writing results. We will stop them from writing results. Please, go home now and start organising because these are the people that come and vote.

“Let me tell you one thing that you should not do; when you say they have already written the results, you discourage voters from coming out to vote for the removal of the current government.

“Currently, Nigerians are complaining in President Tinubu’s first tenure. Imagine what the second tenure will be like, then you’ll be dead and buried.

“People are dying not of sickness but of starvation. If you’re not ready to confront them, I’m looking for those who will work with me to confront them.”
