How change of guard in Kano’s palace forced Tinubu’s visit to stop

Fillers from Kano State and Abuja Thursday had it that a planned visit of the Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was abruptly brought to a halt, as it was affected by sack of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayeo and reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano by the state government.
The DEFENDER recalls that the Kano State House of Assembly had on Thursday passes a Bill that repealed the Kano Emirates Council Law 2019, thereby dissolving the Emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye and Rano.
Having been signed into law hours later, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the sack of Alhaji Ado Bayero while reinstating Alhaji Sanusi II.
This was corroborated in a statement by Department of State Services (DSS)’s state Director, Mr Muhammad Alhassan, as he debunked media reports that it invaded the Emir of Kano’s palace following the sack of Ado Bayero and reinstatement of Sanusi II.
Alhassan said that the DSS only deployed its personnel to the palace as part of a security arrangement for the visit of the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, to the Emir.
He said, however, that the personnel were withdrawn, following the postponement of the visit due to the absence of the Emir in town.
