“That is exactly what they are targeting, they deliberately caused mayhem in this state. We are going to publish the names of our members that have been killed. There is no Court of Appeal that restored them, we urge them to toe the line of peace.”
Osun State Government has kicked against call by All Progressives Congress (APC) to declare ‘State of Emergency’ amid rising political tension in the state.

This was as the opposition party (APC) made an appeal to the Federal Government after few persons were killed during a riot, on Monday February 17, 2025.
It would be recalled that the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Bashiru Ajibola and the Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, were both guests on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.
Senator Ajibola, who was asked to suggest solution to crisis in the state, said that State of Emergency will be the best solution to end the mayhem.
He said, “I will suggest that perhaps it will be necessary for the Federal Government to declare a State of Emergency.
“It has gotten to that stage where hapless people coming from farms are attacked by uncontrollable PDP thugs.”
Complaints from several quarters, however, suggested that the current crisis in Osun State whereby over eight people have lost their lives was the APC-led Federal Government’s creation to take over the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was further said doing that is synonymous to the APC especially as it is the way it had created emership crisis and still does in Kano and other states of Northern Nigeria it failed to control through the ballot.
Those claims were confirmed during the television interview programme on Monday when, in his reaction to the APC chieftain’s call, the Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, rejected his call for a State of Emergency, saying that the opposition party (APC) will not succeed in their plans to disturb the peace of the state.
He said, “I call on our amiable president to reject the call of Honourable Bashiru and his cohorts.
“That is exactly what they are targeting, they deliberately caused mayhem in this state.
“We are going to publish the names of our members that have been killed. There is no Court of Appeal that restored them, we urge them to toe the line of peace,” the Osun State Commissioner said.
