Heavy missile barrage reported over Tel Aviv as Iran–Israel tensions escalate

Some defense analysts believe the missiles used may include advanced Iranian systems such as the Khorramshahr missile and the Kheibar Shekan missile, both of which are reported to be capable of carrying large warheads and traveling long distances.

Tel Aviv experienced one of the heaviest reported missile barrages of the current conflict overnight, with explosions and air-raid sirens sounding across the city for several hours, according to regional media reports and eyewitness accounts.

Residents reported continuous alerts and interceptions in the skies above the metropolitan area as Israel’s air-defense systems attempted to intercept incoming projectiles. Emergency services said they were assessing damage and monitoring for casualties, though full details were not immediately available.

The attack comes amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran. In recent days, American and Israeli officials had stated that strikes on Iranian military infrastructure had significantly degraded Iran’s missile-launch capabilities. The latest barrage, however, suggests that Iran may still retain the capacity to carry out sustained missile attacks.

Some defense analysts believe the missiles used may include advanced Iranian systems such as the Khorramshahr missile and the Kheibar Shekan missile, both of which are reported to be capable of carrying large warheads and traveling long distances.

Independent confirmation of the exact missile types used in the overnight strikes has not yet been released by Israeli authorities.

The Israeli military said its air-defense network—including systems such as the Iron Dome air defense system and the Arrow missile defense system—was actively engaged during the attack.

The bombardment marks a significant escalation in the conflict and raises concerns that the confrontation between Israel and Iran could widen further. Regional governments and international leaders have continued to call for restraint amid fears that prolonged exchanges of missile and drone strikes could destabilize the broader Middle East.

Officials in Israel said further updates on damage and casualties would be released once assessments are complete.

In the time, the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy commander, Ali Fadavi, has been quoted to say that, “Since yesterday, Trump has personally requested a ceasefire to be declared. If the enemy had won the war, he would not have asked the whole world to mediate for a ceasefire to be declared. Americans should expect new surprises in the coming days.”

He said, however, that, “We have missiles that are launched from underwater, and their speed is 100 meters per second. We may use them in the coming days.”
