Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao, the Oyo State governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the 2019 elections, has frowned at the incessant killings, rape cases and fire disasters in the state as he calls on Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State House of Assembly to take concrete measures to bring perpetrators of the wicked acts to justice.

The politician expressed his displeasure in a release signed and made available to newsmen in Ibadan by his media spokesman, Omotayo Iyanda.

In the release, the party stalwart said this became expedient following the death of an Ibadan college undergraduate, Barakat Bello, who was killed after she was raped by her assailants.

His concern also extended to the gruesome murder of the Akinyele villagers at Pade, another pregnant woman and the killing of Alhaji Babatunde Oreitan, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in his residence in Ona-Ara Local Government and Alhaji Fatai Yusuf Oko Oloyun, whose murder occurred in about seven months of the PDP Engr Makinde administration.

Wondering why Alhaji Yusuf Oko Oloyun, who was with his escorts, was pursued from Lagos and killed at a gun point along Iseyin road, Engr Alao said, “These killings have made mess of whatever efforts or investment this administration claims to have made in the area of security.”

Engr Hakeem Alao reminded Governor Seyi Makinde to “realize that public administration is a serious business and for serious-minded fellow(s), not for fellow(s) that will gloss over issues and surround himself/themselves with the people that lack creative ideas or the aides that would not be allowed to exhibit their skills and talents to function well to move the state forward.”

He added that “As we mark the 27th anniversary of the annulment of June 12, 1993, presidential election and in commemoration of Bashorun MKO Abiola’s diehard stance for entrenchment of good governance in Nigeria.

“These killings, crimes and disasters must not be handled with kid gloves in hands and swept under the carpet!

“This tenure was hailed to heavens in its very early life on his investment running to billions of naira to acquire vehicles to support the Nigeria police and empower the newly launched Western Nigerian Security Network, Amotekun, to beef up security in the state.

“Now, any right man in his right senses will ask why these incessant criminal activities going on in the state despite the huge financial investment and promises made by this administration to secure lives and property of the indigenes and residents of the state. Does the wave of crimes currently in the state not mean that the words of the Engr Makinde government are not matched with its actions?”

The AD governorship candidate also stated that “several fire incidents, including those of Akesan and Ogunpa markets, have also happened in less than one year of this administration. These are crimes and disasters too many in a short period of time.

“It is, therefore, a bewilderment that no concrete action, till date, has been taken by the Engr Makinde administration to address these disasters and crimes, let alone investigating them and bringing the culprits to book.”

Engr Hakeem Alao, who noted that there have been more killings, rape cases and fire disasters in less than 400 days of the PDP regime, stated, “It is on this note that we are calling on the Oyo State Government under Engr Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State House of Assembly to speedily set action(s) in motion to investigate and bring to book those perpetrating the rape and murder cases in the state, particularly those of Alhaji Babatunde Oreitan, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf Oko Oloyun, Barakat Bello and the murdered villagers at Pade, Akinyele Local Government, to demonstrate that the Makinde led government is truly a serious one.

He charged Governor Makinde to take a definitive action on the incessant killings, crimes and disasters in the state, and concluded, “The king that was installed and peace reigned, his name would be remembered and in the same vein, the king that was installed and arsons, killings, rape and all forms of insecurity and instability became the order of the day, his name would also be remembered.”
