Governor Matawalle signs 2023 budget, seven other bills

Zamfara State Governor, Muhammad Bello Matawalle has signed into law the 2023 appropriation bill.

Similarly, the Governor assented to seven other bills earlier passed by the State house of assembly.

They include
“A law to provide for the establishment of Zamfara State College of Nursing Sciences Zurmi, in Zurmi local Government Area, A law to establish Zamfara State Education Trust Fund and other matters related thereto, A law to establish Zamfara State Teachers Service Board and related matters 2022, and Violence against Prohibition Law.

Others are the
” Law to Amend a law to provide for the establishment, constitution and functions of Zamfara State Hospital Services Management Board law number 2013, Administration of Criminal Justice Law, and Zamfara State Penal Code Law.

Speaking while signing the bills into law, Governor Bello Matawalle said the signing of the laws became necessary in order to promote the well being of the people and meet their yearnings and aspirations.

He said
“As a Government, we are entrusted with the critical responsibility of generating, managing and allocating resources for the development of Zamfara State, and to ensure that the needs and aspirations of our communities are fully met through the allocation of resources in a responsible and transparent manner.

He pointed out that the 2023 Budget signed into law today reflects these commitments to the people of the state.

The Governor explained that apart from security and social support, which take the lion’s share in the 2023 budget, the administration allocated significant resources towards the improvement of education sector, focussing on increassd access to quality education for all our children.

He said, his administration has also prioritized the development of the Health Care delivery System with a focus on improving access to health care services in rural areas.

He further explained, the government allocated funds towards the development of infrastructure projects that will help stimulate economic growth and create jobs for the people, particularly the youth including the completion of the ongoing Cargo Airport project and the construction of new roads, bridges and other infrastructure that will help to connect communities and facilitate the movement of goods and services throughout the state.

Governor Matawalle called on civil servants who are responsible for the implementation of public policies and programmes, political office holders and all Government officials to brace up for the crucial task of implementing the budget.

The Governor expressed appreciation to the state House of Assembly for working hard round the clock to pass the budget within 13 days.

The occasion was attended by the State Deputy Governor, Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha Jarman Gusau, Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly, Right Hon Nasiru Muazu Magarya, Director General APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council Zamfara State Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe Sardauna, Chief of Staff Government House Gusau, Malam Ibrahim Suleiman, State Head of service, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Gayari, Deputy Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly and other principal officers of the House, Commissioners and senior Government officials.
