Gov Yahaya Bello urges FG to expedite action on rehabilitation of Kogi State, Federal roads

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has appealed to the Federal Government to expedite action on the rehabilitation of Lokoja-Okene-Ajaokuta-Anyigba Road and other Federal roads in the state to reduce the sufferings of the road users.

The Governor made the appeal when the minister of state 2 for power, works and housing, Surveyor Suleiman Hassan Zama and his team paid a courtesy call on the state government as part of their ongoing tour on roads and assessment on infrastructures in the North Central Zone.

Represented at the event by his Deputy, Elder Simon Achuba, the Governor said the present situation of the roads required urgent attention as according to him, motorists spent hours daily driving through the bad portions of the roads.

The Governor said, despite being a federal road, his administration since inception has continued to complement federal Government’s effort in ensuring that the roads were safe and motorable, calling on federal government to give the roads special attention in its ongoing assessment on roads in the zone.

He commanded the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari for its commitment on infrastructures in the country, saying the commitment was a pointer to the fact that the government was ready to take the country to the next level of development.

The Governor said his administration would continue to ensure that the state enjoys the right and appropriate infrastructures even as he called on the entire Kogites to join hands with him in achieving the feat.

Speaking, the Minister of State 2 for Power, Works and Housing, Surveyor Suleiman Hassan Zama, said they were in the state to assess some of the roads and other infrastructures put in place by the government.

The Minister said Kogi state was one of the states that was collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing effectively and efficiently in the area of infrastructures, urging the state Governor to maintain the tempo.

He said the government of President Mohammadu Buhari was determined to ensure good roads network and other infrastructural amenities in the country, saying the out come of the tour would be good for the country.

The Minister said the Federal Government has so far committed huge amount of money to improve power, rehabilitate roads, deliver affordable housing and others in the country, urging relevant stakeholders in the sectors to join hands with government in order to achieve the feat.
