Governor of Zamfara, Hon. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, has rated high, the role being played by the conventional media as a good partner in the social and economic development of the state.
This hint was dropped at the weekend by the state Commissioner of Information, Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, while receiving members of the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel committee writing a book titled, “Governor Matawalle in the eyes of the Press,” being part of the forthcoming May 2022 activities to mark the governor’s third anniversary in office.
Dosara explained that the media, particularly the representatives working in the state, have demonstrated a high sense of professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities, “especially in handling issues on security situation”, he said.
The commissioner further explained that the governor was ever committed to working hand-in-hand with the media and also ready to confide in them for partnership, in an effort to upgrade the economic profile of the Zamfara State.
Earlier, chairman of the three-year anniversary book writing committee, Mallam Abba Abubakar Kabara, told the commissioner that the purpose of the visit was to inform him of the plans by the NUJ chapel to also participate in the activities to mark the forthcoming anniversary event.
Kabara explained that the state. NUJ Correspondents’ chapel had been closely observing, assessing and evaluating the stewardship of Governor Matawalle in the past three years and, therefore, believes that the chapel is in relevant position to “record, decument and showcase to outside world the silent achievements recorded by the governor within the three years of his administration”, he said.
The chairman further explained that the proposed book will highlight some of the major successes recorded in terms of physical development, in addition to huge success of restoring security in the state.
Kabara finally thanked the governor for the recognition he accorded to the conventional media in general, and to Journalists serving in the state which, according to him, “was the element that formed the foundation for the healthy fraternal press/government working relationship in the state.
