Gen Olanrewaju commends Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, over honour for retired Gen Martins, 10 others

The honour done to 11 retired senior officers of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC), Headquarters, Abati Barracks, Ojuelegbe, Lagos recently, has been described as a very highly encouraging, morale boosting and, above all, commendable.

Former Minister of Communications of the Nigeria’s Federal Republic, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), made this commendation while reacting to the Pulling-Out-Parade for the retired officers last week, October 12, 2022.

The DEFENDER reports that under the new administration of the Corps Commander, Major General Adeyemi Alabi, the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps penultimate Wednesday held the Passing-Out-Parade to honour the senior officers, who had served diligently well defending the territorial integrity of the country through the Corps.

The honoured officers included Major General Adekunle Abdullahi Martins, who retired as Commander Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps in 2012, and his immediate successor Major General Rasheed O Yusuf.

Other officers honoured were Major Generals JI Unuigbe, HR Momoh, MA Masanawa, AM Dauda, AO Okoh, AD Chinoko, Brigadier Generals CS Uwah, CFJ Udaya, and PN Okeson.

Reacting to the honour done to the fine officers, General Tajudeen Olanrewaju, an Artillery Officer that is former General Officer Commanding (GOC), Third Mechanised Division Nigerian Army, Jos, said what the General Alabi’s Administration of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps had done was in line with the good culture of discipline that the Nigerian Army is known for and that it would further strengthen the confidence and unalloyed loyalty of officers, serving and retired, to the country.

While particularly addressing General Martins, the former GOC gave a thumb up for the “Nigerian Army of our Pride” as seen in the Corps of Ordnance, saying the Pulling-Out-Parade is a good ceremony to end an enviable career.

“Kunle, this is a good ceremony to end an enviable career. As an accomplished Military General of your generation, I’m impressed by your Corps’ commitment to the traditional roles of pulling out parade for their retired senior officers.

“Congratulations for being remembered for your good deeds. These activities will go into your records,” Gen Olanrewaju said.
