The media organisation, which rebranded from being Aledeh News to Gatekeepers News on May 22, 2021, was awarded on Sunday, 19 September, for its commitment and passion dedicated to the dissemination of information.

Gatekeepers News, which – like The DEFENDER Newspaper Nigeria – was established to eradicate fake news in the online media world, has been recognised for reporting factual and detailed information.

Accepting the award at the ceremony held at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Publisher of Gatekeepers News, Sulaiman Aledeh, commended the organisers of the event for the recognition and honour.

Aledeh restated the vision and mission of the organisation, emphasising that it will continue to be the goal.

He thanked Nigerians and voters for expressing their support to the fast-growing Gatekeepers News brand and also promised to maintain the qualities that have always made the brand a go-to news outlet for factual reports.

Meanwhile, TVC communication was awarded to – for another year going – as the ‘Television Station of the Year’, while Naija FM was awarded as the ‘Radio Station of the Year’.

Winners of other categories include: ‘Most Impactful Traffic Management Program – Bond F.M’, ‘Program of the year TV – Journalist Hangout (TVC)’, ‘Analyst of the year TV – Tundun Abiola (TVC)’, ‘Current Affairs Anchor of the Year – Bukola Wemimo (TVC)’, ‘Next Rated Radio Station – Fad FM (Calabar)’, ‘AM Program of the Year – The Morning Show (Arise TV)’, and ‘Radio Station of the Year’ – Naija FM’.

The award is an acknowledgement that, even in the face of adversity and crisis, an independent, strong, credible, and free media, is an essential part of democracy in Nigeria.

In the meantime, President of the Advisory Board of The DEFENDER Newspaper, AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadejia (Rtd), has congratulated Sulaiman Aledeh, Publisher of Gatekeepers News and other winners, on the successes achieved with the award by NMNA.

In a statement, on his behalf, by Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Defender Media Limited, Prince Bashir Adefaka, Sulaiman Aledeh was described as “a presentable success and development partner unputdownable.”

“On behalf of the President, Advisory Board of The DEFENDER Newspaper Nigeria, AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadejia (Rtd), I am glad to be part of the joy of Gatekeepers News family at the moment and in the future.

“From his days at Channels Television, the medium’s publisher, Sulaiman Aledeh, has been a dependable brother, friend and ally, with whom I have handled many things successfully, both officially, religiously and personally.

“Our medium, The DEFENDER, was resuscitated on 14 June, 2016 with mission statement of ‘…defending the truth and national integrity’. With the coming of Aledeh News and later its new brand, Gatekeepers News, into the fold of concerned media against fake news rocking the journalism sector and commitment to be part of rescuing the Noble profession by waging intellectual war against the information scam, The DEFENDER and Gatekeepers News find a common morality that binds the duo together, moving forward for the love of country.

“Sulaiman Aledeh, we celebrate you today on your success and pray to Allah to please let success also go round all of us, the others, while yours should not stop at the NMNA award of 2021, Amiin,” Defender Media Limited MD, Adefaka, prayed.
