Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have successfully apprehended one Promise Dogoh, 23, native of Kamnor community in Khana Local Government Area of the state, who specialises in swapping ATM Cards, belonging to individuals at several ATM points.
Subsequently, after swapping the cards, he steals money from his victims’ accounts, Our Correspondent said on Tuesday.
The man, however, ran out of luck when on April 22, 2022 at an ATM gallery in Artillery area, after he had successfully swapped an ATM card of a victim and withdrew the sum of N640,000 leaving the owner with nothing in his account.
The frustrated victim reported the matter to operatives of the state police command, who promptly swung into action and arrested the culprit.
He is currently helping the police in its investigation and shall soon appear in court, this online newspaper can authoritatively report.
In the meantime, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, has admonished the good people of the state to be wary of strangers at ATM galleries and desist from seeking assistance from them.
