Reports reaching us at The DEFENDER has it that flood has taken over scores of communities in Ughelli North and Ughelli South local government areas of Delta State Friday through Saturday.

Our Correspondent, who witnessed the ecological crisis, said towns like Uwheru in Ughelli North Local Government are seriously hit by the flood.

He, however, said the Ughelli North council chairman, Chief Godwin Adode, was seen making arrangements for evacuation so as for the displaced people in his part of the affected areas to be taken to Oharisi primary school, Ughelli main town from Sunday.

lgbide, Uzere and Araya communities are also said to have been submerged as at the time of filing this report on Saturday.

The communities, practically, have been cut off from the cities because there are no access roads due to the flood that has covered the roads.

In the streets of Araya, canoes and engine boats were seen being used as means of transportation for few people remaining yet to be evacuated.

The state government and affected local governments have abandoned their people over the times, a complaint was overheard from an apparently pained victim.
