Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, stated this yesterday in Abuja during a stakeholders’ meeting with Pro-chancellors and Vice Chancellors of the universities.

“Your domiciliation in this ministry is a commendable act by the Federal Government of Nigeria, based on sound reasoning and logic,” Ogbeh said.

He also instructed the affected universities to admit only students willing to become farmers. Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, Mohammed Monguno while commending the move said the law establishing the universities does not provide that National Universities Commission or the Ministry of Education should supervise them. He however said there was a need to have an executive bill that will establish the National Commission for Universities of Agriculture to supervise the institutions.
