The exit of Senator Bukola Saraki and his cabals deserves celebration by All Progressive Congress (APC) and Nigerians all over the world, Battles Against Corruption in Nigeria Group (BACN) has said.

In a message to The DEFENDER on Wednesday, the Canada-based anti-corruption group said the defection from APC to PDP Tuesday of Saraki will now mean that Nigeria will now stabilize.

BACN in the letter signed by its President, Mr. Waheed Seriki, said noted that since Saraki’s ascension to the office of number three citizen in the country, Nigerian political institution had been destabilized in a way that put the nation’s democracy under constant threat “because of Bukola Saraki’s constant frustration of the government ongoing development projects and battle against corruption in the country”.

It said, “Bukola Saraki has made it very difficult for the government of President Buhari to fully implement positive change he promised the electorate during the 2015 campaign.

“The senate president always used his position as number three citizen and head of senate to be a stumbling block to social, economic and political development in Nigeria.

“He not only tries to frustrate the efforts of Buhari’s administration to fight corruption and reposition the country into the path of glory but also, he always used his powers to mobilize his colleagues to sabotage government zero tolerance to corruption.

“Saraki as senate president always ensured that any member of the Senate that did not obey his authority and did not subject himself to his orders is dealt with by suspension and ridicule.

“The National Assembly is therefore reduced to lawless arm of government and the members completely lost their focus and abandoned their duty and responsibility to the electorate who voted for them in the last election.

“Saraki apart from colluding with the opposition party to always delay the yearly budget, he also makes approval and implementation of yearly national budget by the federal government very difficult.

“Nigerians have every cause to jubilate and pour champagne for the exit of Bukola Saraki from the ruling party because the APC under the leadership of President Buhari will now be able to channel his energy and country resources to the development of Nigeria’s economy.

“The APC government will now be able to focus on their programmes of restoring the hope of the hopeless Nigerians that have been frustrated because of the 16 years of disastrous People Democratic Party administration and rekindle the beliefs Nigerians have in President Buhari as the God sent messiah to liberate the country from the captive of looters and power behind them,” the Canada-based group said.
