#ENDSARS: Soldiers save Oba Akiolu, as protesters attack palace, set Tinubu’s TVC, governor’s mother’s home, several BRT buses on fire

Feelers from Lagos, the flashpoint and starting point for the #ENDSARS protests, have revealed several violent actions of the protesters, despite Tuesday’s 24-hour curfew declared by the Governor, Babajide Olusola Saneo-Olu.

On Wednesday, it was said that the protesters had stormed the palace of the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Rilwan Osuolale Akiolu I, where the Lagos number one monarch escaped by the whiskers having been rescued by soldiers.

The timely arrival of the armed soldiers in about five vehicles saved the king, as he would have been attacked by rampaging youths, who stormed his palace.

This medium learnt from a source at the palace that hoodlums stormed the palace located at Iga Idunganran area of Lagos early Wednesday morning seeking blood after they have successfully set ablaze the Ebute Ero Police Station and injuring the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), simply named Shina.

“They stormed the palace aiming to set it ablaze and attacked Kaabiyesi but he was rescued by the soldiers who came after a distress call was made to them. They came and whisked him away as well as prevented the hoodlums from setting the palace on fire.

“However, they succeeded in carting away valuables in the process and vandalising some buildings and properties in the palace before the arrival of the soldiers,” sources reportedly said.

Reports stated that the soldiers came in five vehicles and were able to bring the situation under control.

The DEFENDER reports that earlier same Wednesday October 21, 2020, the Surulere home of mother of the state governor, Sanwo-Olu, TVC house in Ketu, and several BRT buses at Lagos Mainland, in the metropolis were set ablaze.

A reporter of TVC had earlier reported from a scene of the protests and, despite favouring the protesters against the policemen on guard, he was being aimed at and he was shouting “Shows nio. Shows nio.” (meaning, we are together) until the station’s studio went into confusion and then off.

Although, yet to be confirmed, a source said the protesters also got to the home of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu but didn’t see him.

The dimension the protests have taken in the South West is beginning to unsettle members of All Progressives Congress (APC) whose governors, leaders, ND allies as well as properties are being targeted.

In Lagos, despite that ever nine of 10 APC supporters of in the state have been spreading negative information about President Muhammadu Buhari since the pretests started,  the protesters have now turned at them and their leaders.

It will be recalled that Tinubu addressed the protesters on Tuesday, telling them “you have made your point” and that they should end the protests.

10. Television Continental (TVC), television station owned by Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu (Former Governor of Lagos).
