Emir of Kano Sanusi II “symbol of wisdom, leadership and intellectual excellence” – Gov Yusuf

Although some politically motivated minds would not seize to doubt, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II remains the Emir of Kano and that is official.

This being the takeaway from Kano State where the government which, away from federal government’s interference being witnessed, has the statutory rights to decide on local matters such as traditional institution continues to carry on its business with the Kano State Emirate leadership regardless of what is said in the media.

To underscore this reality, Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Thursday April 3, 2025, received the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, in the Government House in accordance with tradition at Sallah period during which he expressed his pleasure with the leadership being provided by the Amiru Kano to the over 1,000-year-old Emirate.

In his X post after the homage, Governor Abba Yusuf said:

“As part of the yearly tradition, we were pleased to receive HRH, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano on a special Sallah homage to the Government House.

“During the visit, I described Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as a symbol of wisdom, leadership, and intellectual excellence, adding that the people of Kano are proud to have him as their traditional leader.

“I also extolled the emir’s vast knowledge, his distinguished career, and his unwavering commitment to justice and societal progress.

“While praising Emir Sanusi’s exceptional background, I noted that he is not only a custodian of tradition but also a globally recognized intellectual.

“Our administration remains committed to working closely with the Kano Emirate to ensure the preservation of the state’s rich cultural and religious heritage. – AKY”
