“My take on the subject is that the government should enlighten the public on the rationale for the PMB veto of the electoral bill.  You and I know the good reason for the president action but the opposition would be twisting the issue since they want to paint PMB black by all means.  There is a ministry for information, and there is an agency for Orientation.  This is their duty. I am quite sure that the BBC Hausa Service and other Radios in the North would have explained already to the Northerners.  Our people here in the south rely on those newspapers majority of which have already been bought over by PDP. Let the truth be made available to them instead of the fake news fabricated by the looters and corrupt politicians.”

It has been gathered that leadership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including their Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the minority lawmakers in control of National Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki and Rt. Honourable Yakubu Dogara, Senatoro Ike Ekweremadu, former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike, have held yet another strategy meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital with intent to plot mobilization for veto of President Muhammadu Buhari on the Electoral Bill he has decided not to sign.

President Buhari’s decline from signing the Bill was not without reasons which include that signing new Electoral Bill at the eve of a general election like the one 2019 exercise would pose danger to the electoral process among others.

But, The DEFENDER gathered, some PDP supporters have been jubilating over the new development arrived at in the Port Harcourt strategy meeting with confidence that in the coming weeks something great is going to happen.

When asked what was wrong with the Electoral Bill to warrant not being signed by the President at this time, a media practitioner, who does not want his name in print, said, “What makes the PDP politicians both within the party and national assembly the only ones anxious and so desperate about what they have re-written and passed to the President for signing as an Electoral Law is what the very problem that is with it.  And in that kind of suspicious situation, you don’t sign a any bill that is to become law binding on all people and the system into law.”

Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Governor of Gombe State were among other PDP leaders who attended the Port Harcourt strategy meeting, the PDP source said, adding, “Agenda…How to mobilize both chambers of the Houses to override Mr. President veto.  As both chambers of the House might muster 2/3 majority to override Mr. President veto, on the new electoral act. 75 senators and 240 House of Reps members needed.  The game is getting interesting.”

How President Buhari should tackle them – Patriotic Friends of PMB

At a meeting to counter the moves by the “desperate” opposition to veto the President, Patriotic Friends of PMB, a group in support of Buhari for better Nigeria, too concluded that President Muhammadu Buhari should take some certain steps as a way of checkmating them.

Positing that the Electoral Bill Atiku, Saraki and others plot to veto Buhari upon was rewritten to subvert the rights of the citizens at electoral point, the group urged the President and APC lawmakers to act fast and neutralize their plans.

A school administrator from Ogun State, Mr. Olayinka Aderoju in his own contribution as member of the group, said: “My take on the subject is that the government should enlighten the public on the rationale for the PMB veto of the electoral bill.  You and I know the good reason for the president action but the opposition would be twisting the issue since they want to paint PMB black by all means.  There is a ministry for information, and there is an agency for Orientation.  This is their duty.

“I am quite sure that the BBC Hausa Service and other Radios in the North would have explained already to the Northerners.  Our people here in the south rely on those newspapers majority of which have already been bought over by PDP.

“Let the truth be made available to them instead of the fake news fabricated by the looters and corrupt politicians.”

Another member of the group, Madam Mohammed Aderonke Medinat, said: “It’s high time for the APC Senators to rise up to their responsibilities.  After all they are more than the PDP…It’s a game of numbers.”

Adebayo Mubarak said: “”It is sure that Saraki will do anything against PMB but as Aderonke has just typed, it’s left for the APC senators to stand with Buhari.”

Ismail Abdulrasheed, contribution from Kano, said: “Since he (Saraki) fails to follow the patriotic line over the electoral bill and APC senators are majority, he should be impeached.”

PDP now makes fake press releases

A Nigerian in Diaspora (America), Abass Adetunji, in his Facebook post on Monday expressed concern that PDP politicians were relapsing into what he called ignominy that should be condemned by their supporters who praised them despite that.

Adetunji noted that the opposition are now telling lies against government agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) faking news of account freezing against their candidates while such did not happen.

“Adeleke’s account was not frozen, but the PDP lied;  Obi and PDP lied that his (Obi) accounts were frozen while they were not, and, now, Atiku’s sons house was not raided, contrary to the PDP’s release,” Abass Adetunji wrote. He added: “We have taken note of these propaganda, one would expect the wailers to condemn these inglorious relapse into ignominy but they will not! But one day, monkey will go to the
market…”
