The Paramount Ruler and Attah of Aiyede Kingdom, Ekiti State, Oba AbdulMumini Adebayo Orishagbemi, has paid a visit to the palace of late Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti Land, Oba (Professor) Olatunde Samuel Olushola, who was killed with suspected kidnappers along with another traditional ruler, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; Oba David Ogunsakin, in Ikole Local Government Area of the state, on Monday January 29, 2014.

The Attah, who having himself been victim of violent kidnap attempt in 2022 expressed sadness over the matter, underscored the importance of security protection for politically exposed personalities especially the traditional rulers.

The DEFENDER reports that paramount rulers in Ekiti State are vulnerable considering that no specific security attachments are made for them, even as they now more than ever before required same, considering that they are the closest to their people as the next line of authority on behalf of the government.

When asked about this, the Attah said, “Governor Biodun Oyebanji is working assiduously round the clock to ensure security protection for the traditional rulers.  I can only call on the Nigerian Army to move the army checkpoint on our route here near us. The soldiers should not be too far from Aiyede neither from Oye just as other parts of the state need to be well secured.”

On the death of Oniojo, who is a second class Oba under his paramountcy, Attah Orishagbemi said, “This killing is one that is too much for me and people of Aiyede Kingdom to bear. It is so painful but killers, who killed this good Oba and his fellow traditional ruler, must be fished out.,” he said.

In the meantime, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has ordered security agencies to unravel the killers of two traditional rulers in the state.

The traditional rulers were killed on Monday by suspected kidnappers while returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti in Ekiti State.

The victims were identified as Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, and Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, after they were accosted and shot dead.

Reacting in a Tuesday statement by his media aide, Yinka Oyebode, the governor condemned the dastardly attack in the Oke-Ako area in the Ikole Local Government Area of the state.

He said, “security agents have been dispatched to the area to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime”.

Oyebanji, who had just presided over the state security council meeting in Ado-Ekiti, barely an hour before the incident occurred, said “No stone will be left unturned in the bid to bring the perpetrators to justice”.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has condemned Monday’s dastardly attack in Oke-Ako area in Ikole Local Government, which led to the gruesome killing of two traditional rulers; and ordered security agencies in the state to fish out the killers.
