EID-EL-FITR: Gov. Fayemi, on Sallah homage, calls Sultan “Nigeria’s conflict manager”

Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, made an unannounced visit to Sokoto State on Monday, a day his natural host Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and ‘royal father’ Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, were in the festive mood celebrating Eid-El-Fitr.

The Ekiti governor, who saw his visit as acceptance of prayers, arrived the Sultan Palace shortly after Governor Tambuwal had just finished a multifaceted function of attending Durbar at the palace arcade, paying Sallah homage to the Sultan and, along with the Sarikin Musulumi of Nigeria, having a lunch with Muslim faithful, occasions that annually follow Eid prayers.

Speaking to the Sultan on why he was in the state, Governor Fayemi said he visited to pay Sallah homage even as he described as an excellent bridge builder and thanked him for his role in ensure religious and ethnic peace as well as his being “our cherished country’s conflict manager”.

He was described by Governor Tambuwal as the first visitor Sokoto State would receive after completing the 30-day fasting of the Holy Month of Ramadan 1443AH.
