Dogara, others boycott APC congress in Bauchi as Nana retains chairmanship seat
*All aggrieved members will be brought on board – Gov Abubakar
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and other aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) boycotted the party’s congress in Bauchi at the weekend.
They shunned the congress as they continue expressing their grievances over the way wards and local governments congresses were conducted earlier.
In the congress at the weekend, Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana retained his seat as the Bauchi State Chairman of the party.
Alhaji Bako Hussaini was elected as the party’s state secretary.
Nana was the sole candidate for the position as his opponent Alhaji Sanin Malam reportedly withdrew in protest days ago.
Governor Mohammed Abubakar, while speaking to Journalists shortly after the party’s State Congress, promised to bring all aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on board in order to unite the party.
“As at today, there are eight National Assembly members who are tagging along with the Governor of Bauchi State – Members of the House of Representatives. You have seen some of them here, those who have not come here sent their apologies.
“We are doing everything within our powers to bring everybody on board. When we started, there were only three (Members of the House of Representatives), but today, there are eight and this shows you the efforts that we have been making,” he said.
