*If it’s our wish that Kukah be arrested, so shall it be, Buhari’s supporters warn ex-Kogi Senator

However, Buhari’s supporters responding to the tweet have told Melaye to note that he has no monopoly of insults as, according to them, those who installed him as President are as intact and determined as before, even more, adding therefore that if it is their wish that any erring Nigerian be arrested, so it will be.

Dino Melaye, former Senator representing Kogi West, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against attempting to arrest the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Mathew Kukah, over his Christmas message.

Kukah accused President Buhari of crass nepotism like never experienced in the history of Nigeria.

Bishop Kukah, in his Christmas message titled, “A Nation in Search of Vindication” delivered in Sokoto on Friday, noted that President Buhari had succeeded in sacrificing the dreams of Nigerians on the altar of nepotism by pursuing Northern hegemony.

According to him, there could have been a coup or war in the country if the Daura-born Nigerian Leader had not emerged or a non-Northern Muslim is President and does some of the things Buhari has done.

While the Federal Government and many Nigerians condemned the Sokoto Diocese bishop for using peaceful season celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ to issue a message capable of causing conflict in the land, the Catholic Secretariat threw its weight behind him describing those who have criticised Kukah over the controversial comments as agent of evil.

To the Muslim Rights Concern ((MURIC), however, Bishop Matthew Kukah is “a first class blackmailer” for inciting coup against a democratically elected government and calling Islam a violent religion.

An unnamed source was earlier reported in The DEFENDER to have expressed discomfort that Bishop, despite his insults on President Buhari and his government, has been left free whereas, an Islamic cleric did not do as worse as his before he was arrested.

Reacting, Melaye in a tweet, warned President Buhari against arresting or embarrassing Bishop Kukah.

He also said the President will be shown that the government is not owned by him but the people, if he fails to heed to his warning.

“Arrest or try to embarrass Bishop Kukah and we will prove to you that Government is not owned by you but the people.

“They want to scare every body. Kill fear and speak the truth to power,” he wrote.

However, Buhari’s supporters responding to the tweet have told Melaye to note that he has no monopoly of insults as, according to them, those who installed him as President are as intact and determined as before, even more, adding therefore that if it is their wish that any erring Nigerian be arrested, so it will be.

One of them said, “Let us remind Melaye what happened during the #ENDSARS when we were mobilising in our 10-million to drive the sponsored anti-Nigeria elements from the street.

“They want to test our capacity and we will show them. We are Muslims, Christians and pagans behind the President. We will show them, who are pushing the likes of Dino Melaye and co, that we may not be as vocal on social media as they are funded to do because Buhari pays us no kobo to support him, that the good people of Nigeria are larger in number than the bad ones. What the will you show Buhari if he arrest a coup plotter Luke Kukah?” He asked.
