The Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Wordwide has reacted to death by military plane crash Friday 21 May, 2021 of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 other officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with its condolences to the Federal Government, the armed forces, families of the departed offices and Nigerians.

The Igbo socio-cultural organization and apex body communicated this reaction via a statement issued and signed by its Director General, Strategic Planning and Implementations, Amb. Tony Chiemelu Obizoba, on Saturday 22 May, 2021.

Describing the air accident as a sun that set at its prime for the brilliant officers, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Wordwide was particularly sad that the top officers inevitably departed at a time their contributions to ending the decade old terrorism in the country were more required.

The statement said: “The death Friday 21st May, 2021 by an ill-fated Nigeria Air Force aircraft of the Nigeria’s 21st Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 other military officers saddens the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Wordwide.

“To us, it is a sunset at its prime for the brilliant officers, who departed amidst period their contributions to ending the decade old terrorism in the country were more required.

“The incendent consuming these fine officers are sad, sorrowful and, indeed, painful.

“Our condolences go to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the respective families of the departed souls and the patriotic people of Nigeria.

“May their souls rest in peace. Amiin,” the Ohanaeze Ndigbo said.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 others died in the air crash while on an official trip to Kaduna. The victims in details are:
