By BASHIR ADEFAKA

Bursar of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Alhaji Jimoh Bankole, passed passed away in the early hours of Friday 5th April 2024 equivalent to 26th Ramadan 1445 AH.

In a tribute to the late former University of Ibadan Bursar, Crescent University Senior Assustant Registrar (Public Relations), Idris Katib, described the passing of Alhaji Jimoh Bankole as as the “Passage of Minister of Finance”.

Quoting “Death is a passage. All mortals will pass through it”
–Anon, Katib wrote:

“The passage of Alhaji Jimoh Bankole, the Bursar of Crescent University Abeokuta and an illustrious fellow of the Institute of Chartered Account of Nigeria is a blunt reminder that all mortals shall taste of bitterness of death at the destined time.

“An enigmatic being, Bankole, who was born on a Friday, passed on to the other world at early hours of Friday 5th April 2024, coinciding with the last Friday of the cherished month of Muslims’ holy month of Ramadan 1445 AH.

“He was buried the same day in his hometown in Ado-Odo, Ogun State.

“It was observed that about a few minutes to his burial, the 33° hot weather dramatically went down to a cool 26-27°.The hitherto hot weather briskly changed to a cool breeze from the sky. This coolness endured even after his interment until overnight, until the next day. Allahu Akbar!

“Significantly, his decade of professional service and expertise has propelled the wheel of progress and financial stability of Crescent University Abeokuta, the institution which prides itself as Citadel of Academic and Moral Excellence.

“Hence, he was dubbed as Minister of Finance at Crescent University.

“Bankole it was who stabilized the university Bursary by stopping the sharp practice of multiple payments for the same jobs, saving the institution millions.

“As an experienced financial administrator, he safely negotiated the tax assessment of the Internal Revenue Service to the admiration of the university management. After all, It was a win-win for the IRS and the university.

“It is also on record that Alhaji Bankole facilitated the interlocking of the road network under the able leadership of the vice chancellor, professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila. His supervision of the interlocking project sales from the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development also yielded some profits targeted as part of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) apart from adding to the beautiful landscape of the campus.

“Only two weeks ago, he was honoured as an ambassador of the University of Ibadan at the 75th Anniversary of the institution from where he retired over a decade ago. This was in recognition of his meritorious service as both alumnus and staff of the university.

“Alhaji Jimoh Bankole will be sorely missed for his professionalism, industry, kindness, piety, boldness and due process.”
