Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that elementary and kindergarten students under the age of 12 will return to their classrooms from January 23 this year 2022.

The decision, which was made by the education and health ministries and the Public Health Authority, applies to government and private schools, while remote learning will continue for students, who cannot attend classes for health reasons, Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

“The Ministry of Education is monitoring the progress of the educational process at the elementary and kindergarten levels according to flexible operational models for return, and implementing the health protocols and procedures approved by the Public Health Authority,” the statement said.

The education and health ministries thanked families and parents for following up on their children’s education during the distance learning period, and called for “community partnership” in supporting education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
