Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao (OHA) has called on the public-spirited cheerful givers and the elected public officers to organise more palliative packages at Easter celebration for the survival of Oyo State masses as he kick-started distribution of protective and relief materials across the state in his bid to cushion the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the people’s livelihood.

This was said by Barr Tajudeen Adeniji, the Director-General of Oyedele Hakeem Alao Campaign Organisation (OHACO), who addressed the press on behalf of his principal, during the flag-off of the relief package distribution to the people of the state funded by Engr Hakeem Alao.

The statistics obtained at the OHA campaign office in Ibadan, according to a release signed by Omotayo Iyanda, the head of Oyedele Hakeem Alao Media Office, show that the units of sanitisers and foodstuff distributed so far across the state are worth more than N1,000,000 million and over 1,000 residents of the state have benefited from the kind gesture.

The release stated that the protective and relief materials distributed by Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao included 75cl bottles of alcohol-based sanitisers and units of gari packaged in a moderate measurement.

According to Barr Adeniji, the first day of the distribution at the Ibadan campaign office of Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao, who contested the last governorship election in the state on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD), witnessed a large turn-out, almost difficult to control at a point, while a new approach of direct distribution to individual beneficiaries at their base(s) was subsequently adopted.

The director-general said the system of distribution was changed so as to get the foodstuff to the real individuals who needed them and to avoid multiple collection by an individual while others were not getting anything.

Barr Adeniji stated that the relief package exercise was in part fulfillment of the promise made by Engr Hakeem Alao to come to the aid of the people of the state in this season where Covid-19 has locked down everybody with respect to their personal and business lives.

He concluded by saying that Engr Hakeem Alao sent his message to the affluent public-spirited individuals and cheerful givers in Oyo State to come out to offer support to the people of the state who had been living from hand to mouth even before the outbreak of Corona Virus, adding that he was aware life must be tough for the people now. “So, our people need more attention now as we have not done enough for them.

“This is the time all our elected public officers, particularly the Oyo State Government, should come up with a real functional non-selective arrangement of palliative measures to reach every corner of the state to support the people in this trying moment.

“As we struggle to wrestle power from Covid-19, this season of Easter must be celebrated with love and compassion. I, Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao, on behalf of all OHA team, rejoice with all the Christian faithful on this 2020 Easter celebration and wish them long life in peace to witness more,” says Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao.
