Social and Digital Media Aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has hit peddlers of bad rumours, using the media to spread news of panic over ‘side effects’ of COVID-19 vaccines administered in Nigeria.

In a post titled: “Re – PANIC AS TOP NIGERIANS REPORT SIDE EFFECTS AFTER TAKING THE COVID-19 VACCINES”, she asked “What panic?”

Advert Space

She said it cannot be possible for any applied drug of vaccines nature not to have its effect but not as noticeable as being hyped to the point of panic.

Emboldening the confidence of Nigerians in the ongoing vaccines administration, she said she has taken her.own vaccination and has also been scheduled for another one in November this year 2021.

“November this year, I’ll be taking another Flu Vaccine as I have done for years and it was always with minor fever, blocked nose and slight headache as side effects. Always!

“And I do not expect not to have those side-effects in November. Would I stop taking it because of the side effects that lasts for only a few hours when it protects me for a whole year? Nope!

“Vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent disease and save lives – now more than ever. Today there are vaccines available to protect against at least 20 diseases, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza and measles – WHO.

“There’s no way a dose of live weakened viruses would be introduced into the body and the body does not react slightly.

“I had the Astra-Zeneca Vaccine on Wednesday (10 March 2021). At nightfall, I experienced a slight body ache, but not enough to take an analgesic or pain reliever. It did not deprive me of sleep. I got up in the morning, showered up and went for the State House Press Briefing at the Villa. Perfectly fine. And I’m still fine.

“Most People who had the Vaccine across the world, experienced minor side effects such as people in Nigeria are now experiencing. No alarms were raised.

“But everything in nigeria is drama. Lets stop being dramatic. It’s normal. It was expected. Google is our friend.

“Don’t be discouraged from taking the Covid-19 Vaccine. Many preachers who said Covid-19 was unreal, have rushed out to take the vaccine. Get yours. It’s our passport to the future,” Lauretta Onochie, the Presidential Media Aide said.
