President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, will today Sunday March 29, 2020 broadcast to the people of the country,  at 7.00pm.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He said, “Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), respectively, for the broadcast.”

President Buhari, whose nationwide broadcast tonight is expected to be on updates from the foreign disease ravaging Nigeria and 200 other countries and regions worldwide, had since set up a presidential task force on the Coronavirus pandemic headed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha.

Some elements in Nigeria, rather than cooperate with the government to find effective solution internally or in line with international protocol to the problem, have “surprisingly” chosen the way of politicising the world most virulent disease so far, which made their call on the President to address the nation dismissed by patriotic citizens as unimportant.

Those, who say the “unnecessary criticisms” should not be listened to by the President, are saying that he has done what he should do and that he is receiving updates from time to time.

One of them said, “If the President is doing what he should do and there has been no cause for alarm except that some of the people who, by themselves, caused their bad cases because they either did not fill the correct information with which they can be traced at their respective times and at point of entry or refused to self-isolate themselves, why should anybody think we have reason to panic if not mischief?

“I would rather urge Nigerians who tell bad stories and carry dangerous rumours spreading fake news about Nigeria to stop because, apart from the fact that those who became uncooperative thereby mingling with unsuspending members of the public, which we have found out to be responsible for the surge we had and which the government is standing to, shoulder to shoulder,” he said.
