Buhari receives Gbenga Daniel, Dimeji Bankole, new APC members in State House
President Muhammadu Buhari Monday received former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole, who recently dumped the Peoples Demiratic Party (PDP) and moved over to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
They were accompanied to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Monday by the Chairman, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the APC/Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and Governors Mohammed Badaru (Jigawa) and Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi).
The DEFENDER reports that Otunba Gbenga Daniel was governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, while Bankole was the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria (2007–2011) both on the platform of PDP.
Addressing State House correspondents after the meeting with the President, Otunba Daniel said the security and economic challenges currently seen are not Nigerian but global issue and said it became necessary for him to come and support the President in providing solutions as the nation’s level.
Similarly, Bankole said in 10 years time question will be asked “when the challenge was, how many of you stood up to it? So we have stood up with the President and that is why we are here.”
