Buhari asks to be allowed time to rest, works from home Wednesday – Lai Mohammed
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday did not attend the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, asking his cabinet to allow him to rest for the day.
He however directed that the meeting, which lasted barely one hour and forty-five minutes, be presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who addressed the State House correspondents after the meeting, said that President Buhari had asked that he be allowed to rest and worked from home only for the Wednesday April 26, 2017.
The President staying away from office however would not affect his job as, according to the Lai Mohammed, he had however chosen to work from his official residence for the day, asking that all his files be taken to his house.
Mohammed added that the Vice President would later visit Buhari at home.
“We just concluded the Federal Executive Council meeting. I am sure you noticed that the President was not there. And he (the President) wanted to rest today and he asked the VP to preside over today’s meeting. In addition, he also asked that all his files be taken home to him and he will be working from home today,” he stated.
