Zamfara Governor signs Legislative, Judiciary Autonomy Bills into Law

Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, on Thursday, signed the Zamfara State Legislative and Judiciary Autonomy Bills into laws of the state.

The Director General, Media Public Relations and Communications, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, in a statement he issued and sent to The DEFENDER, said the signing took place shortly after a brief ceremony held at the Government House, Gusau

‘’Following the importance, the governor attaches to the two laws, he said he will not wait for a big ceremony to be organized for his signing of the bill into law,‘ said the statement.

‘’The two new laws are now the Zamfara State Judiciary Autonomy Law and the Zamfara State Legislative Fund Management Law and Related Matters Connected Therewith, 2021 (1442 AH).’’

According to the statement, while signing the bills into law, Shattiman Sakkwato noted that as a true democrat, he will continue to ensure that all statutory responsibilities are directed to the right channels.

“I do not see any reason why we will not allow the autonomy of these two strong arms of government which will ensure the smooth running of government and the progress of our dear state.

It said, “We will not politicize or joke with your responsibilities, your funding, and the autonomy, therefore, with this signing into law, it is my strong conviction that we will continue to work as partners for the growth and progress of our dear state and the good people of Zamfara.’’

In the statement, the governor then appealed to them to guard against all forms of corrupt practices and also enjoined them to weed out anyone found wanting in that direction.

Responding, the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya commended the governor for maintaining a cordial relationship with the legislature and judiciary, making the three arms of government a complete and responsible family.

Magarya assured that both the legislative and judicial arms of government in the state will continue to support the executive for the benefit of the state.

The statement added that present at the brief event were all the principal officers of the State House of Assembly, Acting Secretary to the State Government who is also the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, among others
