For Nigerian teachers, the jinx that their reward can only be earned in heaven while suffering on the earth is broken, as President Muhammadu Buhari approves a special salary scheme for them.
In giving the approval announced on Monday, the President also approved adjustment of the number of years of service that a teacher will henceforth spend before he or she retires from 35 to 40.
These packages were handed out for them in commemoration of the 2020 World Teachers Day.
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who represented President Buhari during the event, said the new salary scheme was to motivate teachers for greater productivity and effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
