It was not clear, as at press time, whether the rescued victims were all that were kidnapped but the District Head was not as lucky as he and the other four were already before arrival of security.

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakub El-Kana, announced the sad incident on Wednesday while briefing journalists and presenting the rescued kidnap victims in his state Command office, on Wednesday.

CP El-Kana said the police, in collaboration with the military and vigilante group, responded and engaged the assailants in a serious gun battle during which the bandits escaped but nine kidnap victims including a one year old baby were rescued from them.

Specifically, no arrest was made in Gada but the attacks, which could have been more disastrous, were cut short due to quick security response, The DEFENDER reports.

According to our Correspondent, who was at the briefing, the police boss also paraded a notorious bandit Sani Mati, 20, who was arrested while trying to block the road and kidnap innocent commuters at a village called Koliya.
