Leicester City has sacked Craig Shakespeare after just eight months in charge, with the Foxes currently in the relegation zone of the English Premiership League.
The Englishman took over as manager following Claudio Ranieri’s sacking in February, despite the Italian guiding them to the Premier League title just a season before, and he guided them to a 12th place finish in the 2016/17 season.
But he has now been given his marching orders after just one win in his opening eight matches in the 2017/18 season.
A draw at home to West Brom on Monday night was seemingly the final straw, and after four losses already this campaign, he has been given the axe by the club’s hierarchy.
The 53-year-old took over on a caretaker basis at the end of last season and he was only named as the permanent man in charge in June.
Shakespeare signed a three-year deal with the club and the Foxes are set to pay him a hefty compensation after chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha hauled him into a meeting in light of their latest disappointing result.
The former Hull and West Brom assistant manager guided the Foxes to Champions League quarterfinals after replacing Ranieri, with his side ultimately losing to Atletico Madrid.
But Leicester bosses will now be seeking a new man to lead the club forward after ending Shakespeare’s stay as manager at the King Power Stadium.
