“Credible information from arrested and surrendered insurgents indicated that the purported Boko Haram terrorist group factional leader, Abubakar Shekau could not bear the heat anymore as he has abandoned his followers, he is running for his dear life,”

The military operations to clear the remnants of Boko Haram may have hit a major target as the Nigeria Army, on Tuesday, says leader of the terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau, has fled, finally, Sambisa forest disguised as a woman.

The flight of Shekau, who only a week ago cried out over his frustrations by activities of the Nigerian Army troops leading to his loss of many followers, The DEFENDER’s investigations revealed, was as result of months of military operations in the North East to clear the remnants of the hitherto dread group follow announcement of its technical defeat by the Federal Government.

The Nigerian Army disclosed that information about the flight of the now weakened Boko Haram commander was gathered from captured insurgents.

“Credible information from arrested and surrendered insurgents indicated that the purported Boko Haram terrorist group factional leader, Abubakar Shekau could not bear the heat anymore as he has abandoned his followers, he is running for his dear life,” a statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, said.

The statement added that, “He is desperately trying to escape the theatre disguised as a woman dressed in Hijab. We reliably gathered that to avoid detection, Abubakar Shekau alternates between blue and black coloured hijabs. He was last seen in a black hijab.”

This comes three days after Boko Haram freed three University of Maiduguri lecturers and 10 women it abducted in a deadly ambush on July 25 last year.
