Best Graduating Student Earns SEPP’s N10m Prize as LASU Produces 494 First-Class From 20,000 New Graduates

The overall best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2025/2026 academic session, Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, has received a N10 million cash prize for his outstanding academic performance.

Oluolamide, a graduate of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.97, earning First-Class Honours.

He received the prize from the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme (SEPP) during LASU’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremony held on Monday at the Olatunji Bello Auditorium, Epe Campus.

The N10 million award was presented to Oluolamide in recognition of his exceptional academic achievement and dedication to excellence.

The prize forms part of SEPP’s initiative, in partnership with corporate organisations, to reward academic excellence, promote innovation and encourage students to pursue outstanding achievements in their studies.

The DEFENDER reports that the Lagos State University had named two standout scholars as its overall best graduating students for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions ahead of its combined 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies.

They are Ayilara Olawale of the Department of Project Management Technology and Adebanjo Oluolamide of the Department of Aerospace Engineering.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, had announced the results during a press conference on Wednesday August 12, 2026, saying the university would graduate more than 20,000 students across the two sessions, including 494 first-class graduates.

Reacting to the announcement on his X handle, Ayilara Olawale, who earned a B.Tech (Honours) in Project Management Technology, described the recognition as a product of divine grace.

“Grateful beyond words to graduate as the Best Graduating Student of Lagos State University, Ojo, for the 2024/2025 Session. Every victory was by Allah’s grace. Here’s to bigger dreams, impact, and a lifetime of excellence,” he wrote.

Olawale had earlier announced his graduation from LASU in November 2025, describing his academic journey as one marked by discipline, endurance and perseverance.

“Alhamdulillah for this journey. B.Tech(Hon) in Project Management Technology, Lagos State University bagged successfully.

“It’s a journey filled with discipline, sustainability, endurance and perseverance,” he wrote.

He also identified himself as a graduate of the Project1500 initiative and an alumnus of the Millennium Fellowship, LASU Cohort.
