The Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Bello Mohammad Matawalle, in the early hours of Sunday, was honoured by his State Executive Council members with a Horse, well designed royal mats, some copies of the Holy Qur’an and a branded jahadist sword.

Presentation of the honours was done at the Government House Council Chamber, Gusau, the state capital.

According to the Commissioners’ Forum Chairman, who is also the state Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Nura Ibrahim Zarumi, their decision to honour the governor was to show their appreciation to his Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto for turbaning governor Matawalle as Shattiman Sakkwato.

Barr. Zarumi also said the gesture was to congratulate the governor for earning the highest honour from the Sultan and the Sultanate Council for finding him worthy to handle the most respected title of Shattiman Sakkwato.

According to a statement issued by Director General, Media, Public Enlightenment and Communications to the Governor, Yusuf Idris Gusau, sent to The DEFENDER, Zarumi maintained that the security situation has improved significantly and people of the state are happy with the development.

He stressed that Matawalle’s focus and vision have earned them a lot of respect from the electorates as a result, people from the opposition are now decamping to PDP.

The commissioners then passed a vote of confidence on the way and manner governor Matawalle is steering the affairs of the state especially on security matters.

Responding, governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle thanked the Executive Council members for the honour done to him and assured them of his continued support and cooperation for them to deliver in their respective ministries for the purpose of having a fully developed state.

The Shattiman Sakkwato explained that he is satisfied with their individual and collective performances urging them so sustain the tempo.

The Governor also solicited for their continued dedication in implementing all the government policies and programmes designed for the benefit of the people of the state.

He expressed confidence that the laudable programmes embarked by his administration in the state will bring more development that the current council members’ name will be written in gold.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff Government House, Col. Bala Mande rtd, Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Bashir Mohammed Maru, Permanent Secretary Government House, Alhaji Jibrin Baba and Principal Private Secretary, Lawal Umar Maradun among others.
