APC LG primaries turn sour in Sogunle as Lagos motorcycle riders’ boss allegedly killed

Report reaching The DEFENDER has it that the primary elections to decide who represent All Progressives Congress (APC) at the coming chairmanship and councillorship elections into the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State have turned sour in the Sogunle Area of Oshodi in the state, as crisis ensued mid-way to the exercise.

An eyewitness, who called this online newspaper Monday evening, said he was particularly a major victim of the crisis as Chairman of Lagos State motorcycle union, who married his wife’s younger sister, Mr. Rasak Bello, was killed in the crisis.

He said the crisis was more of ego consciousness as he said the fighters were all members of APC and members.

The eyewitness, who spoke under condition of anonymity, said Sogunle was a no-go area as at the time of calling but that police had started making arrest of people.

“As I am talking to you, Sogunle is no-go area.  Although you know that the police would arrest both innocent people and culprits but they have started making arrest.

“The person that died is was only few days ago installed as the Akile of Ewutuntun, Oshodi, by the Oba of Ewutuntun in the area.  He was also the Chairman of the motorcycle riders in Lagos State with their headquarters located next to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) state secretariat at Abule-Egba.

“We both married from the same family with him marrying the last born of my wife’s parents.  It is a very sad thing for me and all of us right now,” he said.

Effort to get the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer to confirm the incident was not yet successful at as the time of going to press.  A police source in the area however confirmed the incident occurred.
