Former Deputy Governor of Ogun State during the Chief Olusegun Osoba Administration, Senator Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka, has been cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the September 30, 2018 governorship primary election in Ogun State.

Kaka will be slugging it out with Hon. Kunle Akinlade and four others in the jostle for the governorship ticket to represent the APC at the February, 2019 elections.

In the like manner, Deputy Governor of Sokoto, who refused to defect to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) along with his governors, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, has also been cleared along with others to contest at the governorship primaries which will hold on Sunday across Sokoto State.

It will be recalled that the APC on Thursday announced its disqualification of the Minister of Communications, Dr. Abdulraheem Adebayo Shittu, from participating in the governorship primary election in Oyo State.

The Party gave the non-presentation of NYSC certificate as reason for disqualifying the minister from participating.

Shocked by the “suspicious decision of the party from which much fairness, justice and equity is expected”, the Coalition for Justice and Equity, Oyo State Chapter, has kicked against the APC’s leadership decision over Shittu.

The group, according to its Secretary, Ambassador Adeyinka Adelakun, said, “Asides the fact that we know that the hyacinth that is twisting its waist atop the water has its drummer beneath the river, it is important to express our shock and disappointment at the inconsistency and double standard of the NWC of our party, the APC. Discerning Nigerians will recall that it was widely reported in the mainstream media that Chief Adebayo Shittu was screened and cleared by the APC Screening Committee in Abuja, a day after the news of the NYSC issue broke out. If the Screening Committee had cleared the Honourable Minister, one then wonders on what basis the NWC took its decision. Such oscillation shows clearly that this is just the fur of Esau but clearly the voice of Jacob.”
