Monday’s comments by the PDP Governor of Zamfara State, about how he would reciprocate the kind gesture of the APC governors adding that his PDP colleagues never did what they did, may imply that Matawalle has soft spot for APC and that he will soon announce his defection to join President Muhammadu Buhari in the now emerging Africa’s biggest party.

The Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Monday led a high powered delegation to Zamfara State to commiserate with government and people of the state over the recent fire outbreak that engulfed parts of Tudun Wada Gusau Market in the state capital.

Bagudu was accompanied by the Governor of Yobe State and the Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Hon. Mai-Mala Buni and Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru.

Leader of the delegation, Governor Atiku Bagudu, said the delegation from the progressive governors was in the state to commiserate with the government and people of the state which was planned earlier than now.

The Governor said the sad incident that happened at Tudun Wada Gusau Market affected the livelihood of the victims and business activities in the state which they found necessary to show their concern and sympathy to the victims.

He said the team was in Katsina State, where similar sad incident happened, and prayed Allah sub’anau watahala to recompence the victims with more wealth.

He commended and acknowledged the efforts of Governor Matawalle in ensuring the return of peace in the state and offered support and solidarity through a donation of N50 million to the victims calling on the general public to be more careful in order to prevent a recurrence.

Responding, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun, the Shattiman Sakkwato, commended the three governors for travelling by road to express their brotherliness and love showing the commitment to express that across party lines.

He particularly appreciated the gesture, which he noted his colleagues from the PDP have not done assuring that it will be reciprocated.

“This is a strategy from and by the APC and Zamfara as a no man’s land will continue to welcome you and we will not care what negative other people will say but we expect you to also extend our appreciation to our President Muhammadu Buhari,” PDP Governor of Zamfara State said in a statement issued on Monday by Yusuf Idris Gusau, Director General, Media Public Enlightenment and Communications and copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER.

It will be recalled that Governor Matawalle’s rumoured defection to APC was clarified to The DEFENDER by Idris Gusau saying there were moves by certain by certain chieftains of the governing party to have the governor in their fold. but he had not given his word.
