Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State on Wednesday said that APC governors and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party have agreed to approach Acting President Yemi Osinbajo over issues relating to the forthcoming mid-term convention of the party.

Lalong hinted this at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, while fielding questions from journalists on the outcome of the third meeting between Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC and the governors.

The Plateau governor, who was accompanied to the briefing by Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State and the APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the new date for the convention would be determined at the meeting with the acting president.

“We want to conduct a convention which is constitutional and the leader of the party must also be at the convention. But at the time we agreed to meet with Mr President on the issue, unfortunately he had to travel out. Since the approach was first to the president, we all agreed to meet with the acting president still with the same process to agree on a date for the convention,” he said.

On the performance of the APC-led government in various states over the last two years, Lalong said the meeting concluded that “so far so good, we have been doing very well.”

Meanwhile, the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said the party had decided to embark on  campaign to showcase its projects in various states.

Yesterday’s meeting was attended by governors of Niger, Kebbi, Jigawa, Edo, Katsina, and Benue as well as the deputy governors of Kwara, Kogi, Lagos, Ogun and Osun states.
