*As fear of opposition engulfs circle of Lagos ruling party

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Senator Olorunnibe Mamoora, has been reported to have said Lagos State is an APC state and that the party cannot afford to lose the state to any opposition party.
According to a report, he said all governors under the ruling party, starting from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have done wonderfully well in terms of developmental infrastructures in the state, which need more continuity.
A statement by the Director, Media and Communication of APC National Special Intervention Committee for Lagos Gubernatorial/Assembly Elections, Amb. Oluseyi Bamigbade, revealed that the Senator disclosed this when the group had meeting with the state’s party Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, at the ruling party’s Secretariat at ACME Road, Ikeja.
Bamigbade said the meeting was a wake-up call to the APC leaders to improve their performances as other opposition parties are desperate to unseat the incumbent governor.
Senator Mamoora admonished the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders to double their mobilisation and campaign in ensuring Sanwo-Olu’s emergence as winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship elections in Lagos State.
The former lawmaker condemned the woeful performances of the Lagos State political leaders during the last presidential election that produced Tinubu as President-elect of Nigeria.
Mamoora stressed why the aggrieved members should shed their swords and work in unity for the success of Sanwo-Olu and all the legislative candidates in the state elections, saying APC cannot afford to loose the governorship seat to oppositions, the report said.
In his comment, Lagos State Party Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi said the party’s leaders had left behind, their responsibilities.
He added saying that everyone was eyeing top positions without minding the importance of grassroot mobilisations.
Ojelabi admonished the leaders to dig-deep in grassroot mobilisation which, according to him, will involve both youths and women, saying Lagos has become the centre of attraction to the opposition parties.
According to the Chairman, all the party leaders are expected to embark on rigorous campaign across the communities in all the local governments and local council development areas in the state, to enable the party’s candidates win the elections with wide margins.
