Another APC “governor” resigns from party

Things are obviously not well with the Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as another key member, this time Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, resigns his membership of the party, The DEFENDER can authoritatively report.

In a letter dated 20th June 2020 addressed to Chairman Ward 2, Ese-Odo Local Government of the party, the deputy governor said:

Description of image

“I write to render my resignation as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). I sincerely appreciate the party for the opportunity to serve while wishing the party the best.”

Copy of the letter was copied on a long hand to the Ese-Odo Local Government Chairman of the APC.

Just on Friday, the APC lost a whole state thereby putting it at thin difference between it and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in terms of number of states they control.

As things stand now, the PDP, which John Odigie-Oyegun led the party to reduce to 11 states while the APC took 24 started drowning with the emergence of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the party.

Today, the APC controls only 18 states while the PDP has systematically reclaimed six to out it on top gear as 17-state owned party with All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) consistently holding on to its one state control.

With Ondo State deputy governor now a PDP member, as insinuated, political mathematics suggests APC and PDP are now 17.5/17.5 states in strength except that the ruling party still maintains its governorship of Ondo State and National Assembly members in Edo State.

We, however, gathered that NASS members not defecting with Governor Godwin Obaseki is indication that the governor truly respects President Buhari and so that PDP does not overtake the APC as majority party in the legislature.
