Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun on Monday vowed to resist manipulation ahead of the rescheduled governorship primary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the party stakeholders in Abeokuta, the governor said he would not surrender the party to those who “want to reap where they did not sow.”

The party had been polarised following adoption of Hon Adekunle Akinlade as a governorship consensus candidate by the state APC.

It was gathered that five other aspirants rejected the move as well as indirect primary adopted by the Amosun-backed party exco, which was later upturned by the National Working Committee (NWC).

The aspirants are, Jimi Lawal, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Senator Gbenga Kaka, Abayomi Hunye and Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Amosun declared “no retreat no surrender,” just as he boasted of capacity to defeat his opponents “one million times.”

In his remarks, Amosun told the opponents that the battle “will be too hot for them to handle.”

His words “No retreat no surrender for them. We want to tell them that in Ogun State, it’s not by our might, it’s not by our strength. It’s by the benevolence of the Almighty Lord and the support we are getting from our people.

“I want everybody to be ready. Let’s show those who are trying to help them to manipulate – that it’s an exercise in futility.”

The State Chairman of the party, Derin Adebiyi said the party is expecting the Abuja team and materials for the conduct of the primary.
