Air Vice-Marshal Ahmed Muazu (Rtd) has emerged as the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the expiration of 5-year tenure of Professor Mahmood Yakubu on November 9, 2020.

Professor Yakubu, who was reappointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 27 only awaiting the confirmation by Senate, had on Monday handed over the affairs of the electoral umpire to Muazu, a national commissioner, announcing that he would hold sway on the interim.
