Ahead April 4 Usmaniyyah turbaning, Sultan approves Dogon Daji as 20th title holder

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria’s National Automotive Design and Development Council, Alhaji Jelani Aliyu Dogon Daji’s title of Barden Sokoto has been approved by the Sultan, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.

Warrior of Sokoto as the title implies, Dogon Daji, said to have merited the honour due to his sacrifices for the good of humanity, will now be 20th of the all-important Usmaniyyah title holders to be formally turbaned on Sunday 4 April 2021.

According to a Sultan’s Palace source, “Sultan said he is our son and has been serving humanity and, therefore, that we have to reward him with a title because he deserves it.”

The national automotive chief’s award of Barden Sokoto title was coming following the installations-by-surprise of Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Muhammad Bello Matawalle, and Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya, as Shettima and Wali, respectively, of the Seat of Caliphate recently, on Saturday 13 April precisely.

While Governor Matawalle and Deputy Governor Dan-Iya will attend the April turbaning ceremony as title holders, Dogon Daji will be turbaned newly in addition to the 19 earlier approved.

The DEFENDER reports that Governor of Sokoto, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, long ago, was installed by the Sariki Musulumi of Nigeria as Mutawallen Sokoto.

The forthcoming turbaning ceremony will see the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, a retired Army General, diplomat and football administrator, officially installing 20 deserving people, who will be inclusive of former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Member House of Representatives, Hon. Abdus-Samad Dasuki, and Assistant Private Secretary to the Sultan, Alhaji Hali Maccido, to their respective titles.
