Wahab Adegbenro, Ondo Health Commissioner, dismisses news of “harmful vaccination” in schools as fake

Dr. Adegbenro appealed to heads of educational institutions in the state not to allow any immunisation in their school until otherwise directed .

As agents of confusion spreading fake and negative news have taken flight from Anambra via Rivers and have now arrived Ondo State where some gunmen were said to be administering “harmful vaccination” on primary school pupils, the Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, has risen to the challenge asking parents and guardians not to panic as the news is mere rumour.

The Commissioner stated this in a statement by Press Officer of the Ministry of Health, Abooluwa Famakinwa, issued at Alagbaka, Akure and copy of which was obtained by The DEFENDER.

He said there was presently no immunisation campaign going on apart from the routine immunisation going on at the health facilities in the State.

Dr. Adegbenro said whenever there was to be immunisation campaign the people would be notified accordingly.

He however urged the people not to misconstrue the ongoing net campaign for immunisation.

Wahab Adegbenro, who is having his second term as Health Commissioner of Ondo State having succeeded Olusegun Mimiko in Adebayo Adefarati administration in the past, reassured the people “of the state of the potency of government vaccines and that the people will be notified when such is to take place.”

Dr. Adegbenro appealed to heads of educational institutions in the state not to allow any immunisation in their school until otherwise directed .

According to the statement, the Commissioner reassures the people that the government places high premium on the health and lives of the people.
