Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, Nigeria, Professor Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau, has commended the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, for contributing to the development of education in North, Nigeria and particularly at the university.
He made the commendation during the combined 3rd and 4th graduation ceremonies of the university, held in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, on Saturday May 25, 2024, adding that the sultan is making contribution in both moral and financial form.
The VC further said the Sultan is always ready and available for the university, whenever the need arises for his assistance and support.
He appealed to well-to-do individuals and corporate organisations to emulate the Sultan by contributing their own quota to the development of education in whatever capacity.
Professor Mu’azu said the crime of banditry and kidnapping of person for ransom, which is common in Zamfara State, has created anxiety and emotional instability among staff and students in a way that he said had affected the drive for staff engagement across the country and students enrolment for academic programmes.
Also speaking, the representative of President Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Professor Lawal Bilbis, who is Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodio University, said the Federal Government was determined to tackle the problems of education and call on corporate organisations and individuals to assist government in this direction.
